Nova has excellent conformation, excellent movement (true side and down & back), and
awesome temperament. He earned the sub-title "movin' fool" under many judges. Nova was a Top 10 Basenji in 2000. He lives with my oldest child and, yes, he IS spoiled totally and completely rotten! Watch for his
children in the showring.

Sunny, like her brother Nova has excellent conformation, excellent movement and awesome
temperament. Typical of females, she was fickle. You never knew what type of performance to
expect out of her on any given day. We finished and retired her in a hurry! She enjoys a leisurly
life of playtime, food, more playtime, playtime, rest, playtime, playtime......
Watch for her babies in the showring.

Leo started his career just a few days over 6 months old winning WD, BW for a 4 point major at the Potomac Hound Club in 2001. He picked up 1 point in Ohio. Then Jane Williams convinced me that I needed to come to Georgia. So off we went and earned WD, BW in two shows for 5 point majors each finishing his championship just aging into the 9 - 12 month classes at these shows. Wow! What a ride! Oh - we went RD to a third 5 pt major that same weekend.
Leo is my heart dog. He has great conformation, beautiful correct movement and keeps me laughing! He has produced one beautiful daughter for us so far - CH Wakan Eurynome.

Jelly Bean is the sweetest thing. She has never been shown to date. We were building our home when that time rolled around and she just sort of fell thru the cracks there. She has nice conformation for such a high % African. Her movement is good with a nice topline and excellent front. She has produced one champion so far for us: CH Wakan IfWishesWere Butterflies. Watch for more of her babies in the show ring.
CH WAKAN MIC COOKIE Whelped November 24, 2003

Micki finished with back to back 4-point majors.
He has excellent conformation and movement. He has MUCH better tail set than he displays here........a funny thing -- there was a woman standing in front of him waving a giant stuffed whale in his face. I didn't notice that his tail was uncurling. I suppose that he thought she was gonna throw that thing at him!!
Yes, we also know that he is very fat in this picture. But you can still see his conformation! :)
He yodels and yodels and burrs and comments on everything. We love all of his great conversation!

Sugar is so sweet - just like sugar! She has a delightful personality and thinks that
Betty White just hung the moon!
She has excellent conformation and movement and was a pleasure to show.
She was bred to CH Itzyu The Red Baron for her first litter (as a double on CharlieBrown) and we have Wakan Iron Mojo with us from that breeding!

CharlieBrown was put to sleep August 27, 2007. He was diagnosed with lymphoma after a 5 day stay in the veterinary hospital. This was apparently an extremely aggressive and fast moving form of cancer as he exhibited no outward symptoms before 3 weeks ago.
He will be terribly missed by all of us here. Some of his outstanding children are: Wakan Hope For Freedom, CH Akili's Tubby Raymond, CH Wakan Sugar Cookie, CH Wakan Mic Cookie, CH Itzyu The Red Baron; grand children: CH Wakan IfWishesWere Butterflies, CH Itzyu Walk The Line; CH Wakan Iron Mojo; and a great grand child: Wakan Puzzle Solved. Both of his parents are still living and healthy to date.
It is erroneously rumored that CharlieBrown moved wide in the rear.
He did NOT. He had excellent and correct movement.
To whoever won the woodburning trophy box by L. Jane Williams shown to the right--
this is CharlieBrown.
He truly enjoyed life, however short it was.

FLASH!! Mojo finished his show career with a
bang winning the Potomac Hound Club show under breeder/judge Connie Paulsen by
going WD for a 5pt major and BW and BOB over specials. He was also pulled in the
group that day. Thanks to Carolyn Tuttle for taking him at the last minute to this show for us.
We appreciate you my friend.
We couldn't be happier with Mojo's performance, attitude and willingness to try
and do everything we ask of him!

Thing (because she was such a cute little thing) finished her
AKC Championship on August 2, 2007.
She was WB, BW and BOS at the Potomac Hound Club
in June, 2007 winning a 5 point major!
Thing has outstanding conformation and movement. She is a delightful little dog and lots of fun to show (especially for such a high percentage African).

CH Jerlin's Songster Whelped October 29, 2004
Black/White
Song was bred by Linda Ehlers (in the photo) of Jerlin's Basenjis.
We have been looking for a nice black/white for many years and finally found him at the National Specialty in Kansas City, MO. After much discussion with Linda, we decided to bring him home to Wakan. We finished his championship and are totally DELIGHTED with this dog! Thank you Linda for letting us have him!
